Rainy Wednesday

Wearing different textures is one of my favorite ways to keep monochromatic outfits interesting, especially when the silhouettes are so simple. I also like how the oversize top balances out the skinny proportion of the leggings and the shoe.

SXSW

I love going to Austin! Not only does that mean I get to see my baby sister (pictured in photo 4), but they have the best food. I'm serious. It's like a vegan paradise down there. These photos were actually taken at Casa de Luz when my boyfriend and I were in town for the end of SXSW.

Also, I know what you're thinking, and, yes, I'm wearing the jacket again. I feel like I need to throw in a "sorry I'm not sorry" somewhere. I don't remember where I read it, but I read once about the difference between dressing in France and in America that talked about how in America,  we put such an importance on not wearing the same things twice, but in France, it's more like "that outfit looked great on Tuesday, I think I'll wear it again today." I knew I was born in the country. Besides, in my defense, this jacket goes with everything.

Rick Owens Jacket

I've been really into Rick Owens lately; but honestly, I don't know how I wasn't more obsessed with him ages ago. I love how he is able to achieve such an amazing range with tones, and I actually love how much even the shades with the same names vary. Try googling his shade called "dust", and see all of the different options you get. I also have a beautiful gray skirt of his with the color name "sea'". It reminds me of a gray day on the ocean.

As for this jacket, it has to be hands down my favorite thing that I own. It was hit or miss ordering it since Dallas is dismally lacking in retailers that carry his clothes (especially since our Barney's just closed), but on the third try I finally ended up with this gorgeous blistered leather version. If I can manage not to wear it every day, it will be a serious achievement.

I'm back!

So after an embarrassingly long hiatus, I've decided to pick my blog back up--for real this time. So stay tuned. In other news, I had mixed feelings about this Rick Owens Jacket when I first got it. It was an eBay find (and a super deal), but the pictures of it hanging artfully on a hanger didn't end up adequately depicting the voluminosity of the jacket. (Unlike the product photos in the link above, which I didn't see until after I purchased the jacket and decided to conduct a Google search to find out which one it was.) However, I've decided I like it. Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone a little, slightly misleading eBay photos.

Mother's Day

These are a few pieces I did as Mother's Day presents. I wish I was in my studio working as I type this...I also wish I had a studio. Someday.

Below is a photo of me, my mom, my little sister Sarah, and my grandmother from yesterday. We all went out for lunch, and then the three of us saw The Avengers (the second time for me). Favorite parts (sans spoilers) include: Iron Man and Thor saying things.

Art and Goodbyes

I found out last week that one of my really good friends, Tina (of Horribly Bloated and the mastermind behind this blog name), is moving to Houston for work. She actually left this morning, so she's in Houston as I type this.

We spent the last couple of days sending emails back and forth about the decor of her new place (exciting), and she was nice enough to let me do a couple of pieces for her before she left:
